Lucy Bird & Rose Bud Pink

Studio Getaway got this very cute paper in a few weeks ago. It's from the Lucy Bird Line from Imaginisce. The stamp is from the same line, and since it's a Snag' Em stamp, it's only 99 cents (I love Snag 'Em stamps for that reason!).
In the same order, we got this vibrant pink color of Memento ink. I immediately saw that it would be a great match for the Lucy Bird line.

This is one of the cards I made using the combination. I stamped 3 times in the Rose Bud ink the scalloped circle image and cut them out. Using pop-dots I mounted die cut hearts in the center of each. I imitated the scallops again using a border punch and another pattern from the Lucy Bird line. I love how it turned about and think it would make a great Valentine or anytime card!

It's that time of year...

...to scrapbook his big kill. You know the one. That big deer he brought down he's so darn proud of... how many points was it?
I'm talking to all the hunting-widows out there.
If you are like me, you probably have more photos of your husband posing with his hunting trophy than with you. And, you are probably less bitter about it than I am. Nonetheless, these photos should make it into your scrapbooks, right? Wouldn't that be sweet of you?

We have some new supplies in stock for all those hunting photos, and a few that are great for camping and 4 wheeling, too.


He'll love that you put his trophy in your scrapbook. He'll probably love it so much, he'd be willing to go out and snag another one next year just so he can get another photo for you to scrapbook! Wouldn't that be sweet of him?

You stole my heart

Once again, I utilized the BoBunny Love Bandit paper to make this layout. Can you tell I love the stuff? I trimmed out the little racoons and popped them on one of the mats from the sheet I showed you 2 posts ago. I added a few rhinestones to the flowers. Then, I trimmed out the phrase from the same sheet to use as my page title.
Please notice that green DoubleDot border piece! I punched it with one of the new Martha Stewart Deep Edge Punches. If you haven't seen them yet, come into the store and check them out. They are about twice the size of her regular punches and are perfect for scrapbook pages!

Kathey is up at Hyvee tonight setting up for her crop in the new meeting room. She has lots of ladies headed her way, and I will be heading over after work.
In the mean time, I'm unloading our latest order. We have replenished our Stickles. I don't know what happened, but after our open house, we didn't have any left! So ordered in some of our favorites, like Icicle and Diamond, and colors for Christmas, like Xmas Red, Green, and even Lime Green. Also in is Cotton Candy Stickles, perfect for Valentine's Day.

Convention

Kathey is out at the Holiday Inn for the big convention today and tomorrow. It looks like there are quite a few vendors there, and we have some great make-n-takes lined up for you! It should be a great weekend of shopping and papercrafting, even if you are not one of the croppers out there this weekend.
Back here at the store, I have been unloading boxes of new supplies. Some will be going out to the convention, like our new Best Creation Glitter Paper order. If you haven't tried it yet, check it out! It's flake free, so you won't be covered in glitter when you use it!
Staying at the store are lots of new holiday Cuttlebug folders and other goodies! We are open Saturday from 9am-12pm and will be at the convention starting at 9am until the evening.

Long Time, No Post

It really has been too long since our last post! We are very busy this summer, gearing up for the fair and working on a big project which we hopefully will be able to reveal to you soon.
We also have been stocking the shelves with goodies. We have a couple of new colors of Cricut Vinyl in stock, like a gorgeous lime green and a warm burnt orange.

I love the summer-y colors of BoBunny's Love Shack line. I can envision so many pretty, feminine pages. Too bad I have only boys. We do also have in stock some of the U Bug Me line from BoBunny that would be perfect for boy pages!

Maybe I can make my boys some pages using some of the new Kaisercraft papers. We've had lots of requests for camouflage and military themed paper. This one seemed to fit the bill. One of the pages has a side full of quotes and title for dads, men, heroes, and more.
We also finally have a few Copic colors in stock. We've decided to start out with a few and add a couple more colors each month. If you've taken any of the Stamp of the Month classes, chances are you've used the Copic Sketch Markers. They are an alcohol based marker, which makes them wonderful for blending. The alcohol also makes laying the color easy. You can intensify the color by going over it again after it is dry. Each marker is dual-ended, with a fine brush end, and a chiseled wide end. If you like coloring your stamped images, these are definitely the markers for you. We also carry the colorless blender, which is great for "lifting" the ink to create patterns and effects. It also works well for "floating" color from other markers for a watercolor effect.

New Product & Review: Scor-Pal

From the manufacturer's website: "The slightly textured scoring surface is 12" x 12", with a raised fence at the top (ruler markings) and on the left and right side. This aligns your paper for perfect scoring. No more crooked cards! Grooves are across the board at different intervals. Besides the normal 1/2" and 1" intervals there are grooves at 2 1/8" for gate fold cards, at 4 1/4" for normal A2 cards, and at 3.666" and 7.333" for brochure folding (divides 11" paper into equal thirds) When you place your card stock on the scoring surface, you are able to do multiple scores without moving the paper. Grid cards, accordion folds, boxes etc are scored in seconds. The score lines result in crisp, accurate folds! At the 0 to 1" mark and 11" to 12" mark there are 1/8" markings. By proper paper placement this will allow you to score 1/8 " increments such as 1 7/8" The included scoring tool snaps into place at the top of the unit. It is always at hand. It has been specially designed to fit the grooves so the card stock can not be torn while scoring. Additional scoring tools can be ordered separately. Perfect tool for straight and diagonal line embossing on cards and scrapbook pages!"
I have had a Scor-Pal for a few weeks now. I have mostly used it for A2 card folding, and it works incredibly well. At first, I did balk at the price. But after using it and seeing how precise my folds were, I decided I wasn't going to waste anymore cardstock by mis-scoring. I can't tell you how much cardstock I've had to put in the scrap pile because my old trimmer's scoring was off a bit. With the Scor-Pal, I don't have that problem. It comes with a scoring tool that glides right over any cardstock I've used so far. The top of the tray also makes it so easy to make sure the stock is perfectly aligned.
I have seen many beautiful cards made using 45 degree angle lattice scoring, but have not yet tried it.

February Update

The beginning of the month is always like Christmas around here. We seem to get lots of exciting packages at the beginning of the month. The new Stamp of the Month set from Great Impressions is in.

Here is the full sheet of images. It's all about boys this month. We also have in 4 new colors of Bazzill cardstock to coordinate with the images. Remember, the Stamp of the Month class is always the first Friday of the month at 6pm. Please call to pre-register!

Have you tried ProvoCraft's vinyl yet? We just got in more colors, like Latte and Ruby. Custom cut the vinyl on the Cricut machine to make virtually any image or saying to put on your wall. How cool is that?

Stamp of the Month for January 2009

We hope everyone had a great Christmas. We all sure did.
We are busy rearranging product in the store and making room for new goodies and spotlighting our Valentine's Day products. The Stamp of the month has arrived along with new paper from BoBunny! It is very cute! The Stamp of the Month Class is scheduled for Jan. 9th 6:00-7:30pm. Please call 451-3920 by Jan. 8th to register.

Semptember's New Products

Fall is in the air and we have the stamps you need to make cute cards for the season! The new stamps for September from Great Impressions are in and flying off the shelves again this month! We also received a new product called Shimmerz. These little jars of pearlescent paint add just enough sparkle to your stamped images, they really will stand out! Also in stock this month is the matching Bazzill And Bo Bunny cardstock for these cards.



It's also getting spooky around here with the new Halloween products. The "Spellbound" line from Making Memories is a big hit. Check out the papers and stickers we got in.


Add to the mix some new embossing folders for the Cuttlebug machine, and you could really make some great cards!

We also have some of the new winter holiday embossing folders, as well as stamps from Hero Arts and Penny Black!


And, last but not least, are new Snag Em stamps from Imaginisce. Small and inexpensive, these stamps are really charming.
